An exploration of human movement with leading athletes and performers.
This is a life-affirming project on the universal theme of human movement. Collaborating with leading athletes and performers it explores the beauty of movement in a natural way.
Four movement studies have been created with these athletes and performers who excel in their individual disciplines. The disciplines were selected for the grace and purity of movement they portray as well as the supreme bodily control they require. Quotes from the participants accompany each study giving an insight into their personal relationship with movement.
The studies were shot on location working in harmony with either the natural environment or world-renowned architecture. These original yet complementary locations were selected instead of traditional settings to separate each discipline's movement from its historic associations and to bring a new focus on them.
Predominantly created in a staged documentary style, black & white was used to accentuate line, figure & form as well as providing continuity across the series.
The project was exhibited as a solo show supported by the Royal Academy of Dance at the Old Truman Brewery in London from 14th to 17th March 2019.
